Trauma Informed Yoga Workshop
Ebb & Flow Adventures is dedicated to serving our communities with the competence of yoga as an addition to therapy. We are passionate about sharing the knowledge and research on somatic healing and how to apply it to the complexities of life. Our workshop is lead by Whitney Ingram, 500 E-RYT, Ayurvedic Specialist and trauma survivor. She teaches this workshop from a 15+ year background in using yoga as her main modality of therapy. Her approach is from a lived experience, dedicated practice and advocacy, as well as continued mentorship from Kath Meadows, yogi and mental health therapist. Each workshop supports offering attendance for two people at no cost, ensuring the exposure of this knowledge to all populations.
In this workshop we invite yoga teachers, therapists, and the curious to explore and learn how trauma lives in the body and how yoga can assist in healing. We discuss the prevalence of trauma, practice trauma informed yoga, and gain an accessible understanding of the science of trauma and learn about the role of yoga as a practice for healing and self care.
For yoga teachers and therapists we explore trauma informed techniques for growing your sensitivity to make your teachings more inclusive. For people seeking yoga or already practicing, these techniques may give insight to the style of yoga your body may appreciate. Additionally, we will provide guidance in self care to inspire your personal practice and support those working in the field of trauma and yoga activism.
